Amethyst for Sleep: The Crystal I Reach for at 11pm
It's 11pm and your mind is still going. Anyone else?
I don't know why it happens right when the day is supposed to be over. The body is done. The mind hasn't got the memo yet.
When your mind won't switch off
It happens to me more than I'd like to admit. Some nights I lie there running through everything: the day, tomorrow, things that don't even matter. And I can't seem to switch it off.
If that sounds familiar, you're not alone. A busy mind at bedtime is one of the most common things people tell us about.
Why amethyst?
Amethyst is the stone I keep coming back to for this. People have turned to it for thousands of years for exactly this reason: to settle the mind, quiet the noise, and help you truly rest instead of just lying there.
It's known as the stone of calm. It's also associated with deepening intuition, which makes sense. When the mental chatter softens, there's finally room to hear yourself.
How I use amethyst at night
I keep a piece on my bedside table. Most nights I don't even think about it. Then there are the nights where it's honestly the only calm thing in the room.
A few ways to bring amethyst into your evening:
- Keep it by your bed. A cluster, point or tumbled stone within arm's reach.
- Hold it while you breathe. Take a few slow breaths with the stone in your palm before you turn off the light.
- Soften the light. An amethyst lamp fills the room with a gentle violet glow as you wind down.
- Wear it through the day. A pendant or ring keeps that calm energy with you, so you arrive at bedtime a little less wired.
Your nightly dose of peace
I hope tonight is one of the quiet ones. And if it's not, amethyst will still be there, doing its slow, steady work while you rest.
