Why do so many people overlook rose quartz?

It's considered a basic crystal. You'll find it in every good crystal shop and every online store. It's usually the first stone people work with when they begin this path, and then they push it aside for something rarer or more exciting.

I find that funny. Because rose quartz is all about self-love, unconditional love, forgiveness and healing of the heart. And I believe all healing has to begin there first.

The crystal that changed everything for me

For me, rose quartz was one of the most powerful, transformational crystals I've ever worn. Not a beginner stone.

I had a beautiful rose quartz heart that I didn't take off for months and months, until I lost it in the sea. But before it went, it invited me to start lowering the walls and armour I carried around with everyone. It let me begin receiving love from myself.

• Keep a piece by your bed and hold it for a moment before sleep.
• Place a rose quartz lamp or rough piece in your home to soften the energy of the space.
• When the inner critic speaks up, hold your stone and say one kind thing to yourself instead.
